Information About This Unit
This unit will cover simple addition and subtraction word problems. Using manipulatives your child will learn to evaluate word problems and create number sentences to solve. To further reinforce the concept, your child will help you solve dramatic play scenarios based on word problem facts and create owl counters to learn to create word problems. Worksheets and online activities are included to reinforce the concepts. This unit is designed to last one week, depending on how often you teach math.
The concepts in this pathway are primarily taught from an experiential, hands-on perspective. Children will spend less time reading background information and lessons, and more time engaged in the projects, activities, and other learning tools in the sections below.
