Danny and the Dinosaur
Information About This Unit
Description of Learning Unit:
In this unit, you will listen to "Danny and the Dinosaur" with your child. By creating a diorama, measuring dinosaurs, seeing the world from a dinosaur's eye view, and dramatizing the story, your child will understand the story and have fun. You will also talk about retelling stories and relate the concept to this and other stories. Your child will also learn the sight words "got, grow, and hold." This unit is designed to last one week, depending on how often you teach language arts.
List of Objectives:
- Listen to the story "Danny and the Dinosaur."
- Learn how to retell a story and be able to retell stories.
- Learn the following sight words: got, grow, and hold.
List of Materials and Supplies Needed for This Pathway:
- Small toys: plastic figurines, cars, trees, buildings, etc.

- Shoe box or other box
- Glue

- Thread
- Pipe cleaners
- If desired: cotton balls (for clouds) or thin cardboard (cereal boxes uses to make cutouts stronger)
- Miscellaneous craft supplies: paper, clay, etc.
- Paper cut into 1 foot strips (as many as the tallest dinosaur)
