Read this page to your child. Then use 25-50 manipulatives to demonstrate (toy cars, blocks, game pieces, cookies, etc. Put the manipulatives on the table and divide them into equal groups. Ask your child how you could find out how many there are without adding or counting. If your child has trouble coming up with a solution, demonstrate by multiplying (Example: there are 3 groups with 4 in each group. So we can multiply 3 x 4 or we can add 4+4+4). Then put the manipulatives into different groups and have your child multiply to find the answer. Repeat this process at least five times.
