Information About This Unit
In this unit, you will begin reading the story of the Ingalls family in "Little House on the Prairie." The first five chapters describe their covered wagon journey and some of the perils they encounter along the way. Your child will discover the types of food they ate on their journey and some of the wild animals encountered along the way. Your child will write about what character he/she identifies most with and how he/she thinks it would feel to camp out in the wilderness. Your child will also learn about double negatives, which are common grammatical errors. This unit is designed to last one week, depending on how often you teach language arts.
